I was given three options though most of you describe only two. There is the D&C and the wait it out, but I took Misoprostin (could be spelled wrong). I chose this because I didn't want to wait and possibly be by myself and my kids when it happened and we had totally confirmed that the baby had died so I knew I was not killing my baby. I took the first dose at 2:30pm and my water broke at 5:50. Nothing for half an hour then I had labor pains for an hour and a half. My husband and I watched TV to distract me but it did really hurt. Our child was born at 7:58. It had died around 8 weeks and I was 15 weeks when he was born. He was so small but we got to hold him and we are going to bury him. It is the most painful thing (emotionally) that I have ever done but it is the only time I will ever see him or hold him. I havent told many people that thats what we did but I think it was the best decision for us.
